sittings is concerned I have two remarks to make:-

First, although when it is necessary I sit longer, it

is not practicable to do so regularly either

during the winter - when by 4 o'clock I am

frequently shivering with cold; or during the

hot months when I am generally bathed in per-

-spiration. During the hottest months after

leaving Court I am so exhausted that it is

impossible to do a stroke of work or put to-

-gether a coherent thought.

Secondly, the hour's adjournment for tiffin in the

middle of the day is the old custom which

pervades every institution in the Colony. I am

quite powerless to alter it, and I am told my

own frugal habits which only require 5 minutes
